Our New Master Bath
If you saw our old master bath, you’ll appreciate how little we needed to do in our new master bathroom. It actually is a newer addition on the house and it’s fabulous. It’s got the tallest ceilings in the house, a huge white tiled shower, beautiful hand-painted mint stripes, gorgeous cabinetry, custom mirrors, a gorgeous bathtub, two large windows with plantation shutters, canned lighting, and it’s bigger than our old bedroom.
Ok, it sounds perfect now that I’ve typed it out. For me, it actually is. When we first moved in, it was just a large striped room – it needed new caulk basically everywhere, a deep cleaning, and some coordinating decor to really complete the room.
What we’d like to update eventually
We are in no way finished… I want to do a major shower update with a shower door (ours doesn’t have a door right now and with 2 dogs and a toddler, Momma needs some privacy), redo some of the hardware especially in the bathtub, and a lighting update. I would love a huge antique soaker tub, too, but I know our cast iron tub isn’t getting replaced anytime soon, and our little boy loves this tub! I really want to add some pretty apothecary jars with bath salts, etc. but because it’s become a toddler’s playground, I’m going to wait on those for a while! But in the meantime, I’ve added some pretty accents that really help the room feel like us.
How We’ve Decorated So Far
I am obsessed with the stripes. I have said it before, I am NOT a farmhouse girl. I love that so many people have found a decor style they love but for me personally, shiplap, mason jars, rustic wood with scratches, etc. just aren’t my style. I love bright colors, traditional finishes and beautiful antiques. Anyway, with that being said, it was actually easy for me to visualize the space because it’s totally my style – very preppy and traditional.
For now, we have added monogrammed linens, a dresser I refinished (you can see the update here), a huge moroccan gold mirror, a preppy brassy lamp, acrylic jewelry organizers, an orchid, a hyacinth laundry hamper and the most fabulous Bavarian floral plates.
The beautiful antique Bavarian plates were fabulous finds from Lillian Greys Vintage Home – on instagram @lilliangreysvintagehome … I always find the BEST items; to see their other awesome treasures, visit their website.
Aren’t they so pretty? I couldn’t resist when she sent me these images handpicked for our bathroom.
Anyway, I thought I’d share a quick update of our bathroom. We still have a ways to go & I’ll update y’all as we remodel and update the space slowly… very slowly. I even love cleaning this room and am so thankful for a room that gives all of us enough space to get ready in the mornings and gives me an opportunity to relax after a log day. I’d love to see your preppy master bath ideas, inspiration and photos!
