Annie’s Nursery

Our Annie’s Nursery

She’s here! We welcomed our precious girl to the world a few days ago and had a perfect day with family. We are so thankful everything went as planned and everyone is happy and healthy!

(Her Lilly blanket matched both of my boy’s Lilly shorts – I got it from the cutest Etsy shop!)

As a gift to our nurses for taking such great care of us, I had our cookie queen Nicole create little thank you cookies for all of the nurses (@SugarCookiesNC on Insta) and I attached matching tags to them with frappucinos! Aren’t they so cute? She is so incredibly talented!

The day before our c-section, we were finalizing details in her bedroom and bathroom…I did one more final cleaning and Mac and I worked a few puzzles in the nursery floor. Of course our sweet black lab Grey was in the middle of it all. She loves the nursery!

He is so ready to teach her how to do all of his favorite things.  I will share her bathroom soon – it’s still not 100% complete but it is close!

Before

(I actually did kind of love the floral drapes, unfortunately they were super dirty and I wanted the room to be fresh!)

(This is before we moved in)

Her room was one of our guest rooms and I always knew if we were lucky enough to have another baby and it was a girl, this room would be her nursery. I love the natural light and that it has it’s own bathroom.

I actually selected the fabric  (Waverly – Candid Moment in Gardenia) for this room when it was a guest room, I loved the florals so much. (If Annie was in fact a boy, I would’ve painted this guest room a color from the fabric and finished it with less pink — the boy nursery would’ve been the one that connects to Mac’s bedroom with a Jack/Jill bathroom.)

(Here is the post on how I create cornice boards for my windows!)
The room as a guest room. I didn’t want to paint the banged up dirty yellow walls until I knew what this room would end up being – a nursery or permanent guest room. So happy it got to be a nursery!

Turning it into a Nursery

Once we confirmed her gender, we waited until we got home from Disney World then started working on the nursery. We decided to keep the queen sized bed (like we did in Mac’s nursery a few years ago!) so we removed the fancy bed frame – it’s in storage until she’s grown and turned the bed into a ‘day bed’ on a very short box spring for safety and simple bed frame.

  • Paint

Once we got the furniture moved out, I went through about 6 paint samples before I decided to go with ‘Impatiens Petal‘ – I love it the most when the sun hits her windows in the late afternoon, it’s such a light and graceful pink. Mac helped me paint and I kind of went through some of my plans in the earlier nursery post.

  • Ceiling Fixture

I also started looking at ceiling fixtures almost immediately. Of course I wanted an amazing antique chandelier with palms but… this is an old house and it does get hot here, especially in the summer. So my hubby convinced me to go with a fan. I think we are all thrilled with how the fan turned out, it’s pretty and also functional. I actually want to put this fan in every room now!

  • Furniture

Because Mac has been in his queen bed since we moved in, it was time to pull the crib (PB -Kendall Collection) out of storage and give it a good deep cleaning. I got a touch up paint pen from Pottery Barn Kids and touched up where it needed and it’s perfect. I’m assuming she’ll only be in it a short while anyway and we’ll move the bed to where her crib is and put in a headboard in the same fabric.

With the fan and crib being white, I wanted to find a pretty white dresser with gold hardware. I was so excited to find this. I am hoping once Annie is big enough for us to move the crib out, I can still find the matching chest to go with the dresser. I should probably just buy it and keep it in storage until we have room for it! We don’t do changing tables in our house – just use a changing pad and I’m actually using the same cover as we used with Mac. I’m using all of his same bedding (Pottery Barn Harper Collection – in navy) as well, just got new sheets to be more feminine! To us, navy is a neutral and not gender specific. Our whole house is basically navy.

This is the table I put beside the dresser to hold her basket of diapers/toiletries, etc.

We also reused the glider from Mac’s nursery. It’s a swivel/recliner/glider and I love curling up in it during late night feedings, I’m so happy to reuse it. Here are some similar nursery chairs that I would’ve selected had we not already had this one. We also added a few throw pillows in the Candid Moment Gardenia fabric in the chair and crib (yes, I know… we will not let her sleep in the crib with a pillow, it is solely for decor when she isn’t in it).

This is ours and this is a deal! We probably spent at least twice this 4 years ago.

Similar to ours
I reallllyyyy love this one!

The bamboo side table was actually given to me for free and was just in need of a deep clean and fresh paint. I love it! Here are some side tables that were in my cart before I got my hands on this one!

This table is similar to the accent table beside her bed, I found it at TJ Maxx and struggled to find an identical match online, I wanted to find a second one to put on the other side of her bed but still haven’t found one!

  • Accents

We absolutely had to get a monogram for above her crib, I was so happy to find a chinoiserie inspired pagoda style on Etsy! I sprayed it gold and am so happy with how it turned out.

I also knew I wanted to use antique bow sconces (found at a local antique shop – but found similar in google searches) on each side of her mirror above her dresser. I decided on this mirror and love how modern it looks with the antique bows! While I love my antique bow candle sconces, part of me wants to order these lamps and have them wired in. We will see once she outgrows the crib and we move around the furniture!

I chose a white and gold shelf for photos and cute accents for above my chair – definitely some blue & white and gold (and the monitor so I can see our girl in her crib)

I also got this pair of wall shelves for a few books, a majority of our books are in Mac’s room on his huge wall shelf but we put the sweetest ones in here so Mac and I can read to her together!

And we used these gold frames all over her room – this set is awesome!

I thought this gold balloon animal pup was the cutest and fun addition to her little shelf

I added this Jayes Studio cache pot in blue with a green topiary ball for some color

Beside her bed, I added the spindle accent table I found at TJ Maxx with a cute blue and white striped lamp we used when this was a guest room, and a little ginger jar. The matching pair of paintings on the wall are canvases I painted and had framed.. I loved how they turned out!

For above the bed, I still have one more thing I want to hang but I framed these pink ginger jar prints using the gold frames I linked above (I am using 2 of the 4 in her bathroom).

The bedskirt is custom made by the most talented woman! She just opened at Etsy shop and I am obsessed with using everything she has made for us. I am adding photos of the boppy cover and the baby nest she has made for Annie – Annie is currently in the nest beside me snoozing while I type this!

I am in love with how her room turned out, it is still a work in progress but isn’t every room in this house? Her bathroom will be done and photographed soon and I’ll work on those updates in a blog post as soon as I can.

Thank you for all of the love, prayers & support during this pregnancy and her birth – we feel so grateful!
